Job Description


Provides human resources leadership, guidance and consultancy to a regional leadership team; responsible for implementing and operationalizing human resources policies and activities, including, but not limited to, guidance on employment law, Company policies and philosophies, recruitment, performance management, compensation, organizational change, leadership development and human resources systems; oversees recruitment center staff in a specific geographic area and the daily work of the center


  • Participates as a strategic member of the regional operations team; ensures consistent application of the human resources plan with the operational business plan
  • Collaborates with operations leadership to anticipate and plan for long term human resources needs and trends
  • Supervises, hires, trains, evaluates, and motivates a team of Recruiting Center employees, with dotted line responsibility to the Manager, Centralized Recruiting
  • Ensures appropriate Recruiting Center staffing level by monitoring vacation schedules and coverage. Works with Management to make staffing changes as necessary
  • Completes annual performance appraisals for Recruiting Center staff by working in conjunction with Manager, Centralized Recruiting
  • Ensures that the Recruiting Center objective, to provide quality candidates for hourly Store positions, is being met by monitoring individual Recruiting Center statistics and turnover on a weekly basis
  • Guides and counsels field management in areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to, recruitment, employment practices, employee performance, employment laws and regulations, compensation, benefits, workers' compensation, and other Company policies and procedures
  • Receives employee relations complaints; researches and conducts necessary investigations, secures appropriate documentation and makes recommendations to resolve the complaints based on the investigation findings. Works with the Legal organization as needed
  • Advises Operations Managers regarding disciplinary actions and terminations; reviews reasoning and documentation. Makes recommendations for appropriate actions accordingly
  • Maintains broad generalist human resources knowledge. Interprets laws and regulations and ensures consistency when applying them to Company issues
  • Initiates and recommends Company policy changes based on current business practices. Drafts recommended language changes in order to update Company manuals and handbooks
  • Keeps abreast of workers' compensation and unemployment laws in the assigned state; assists in claim investigations to determine Company liability. Participates in hearings as needed
  • Reviews monthly and quarterly bonus exceptions. Researches issues and coordinates corrections in SAP when bonus program data and the database do not correlate
  • Collaborates with various colleges, advertising companies, staffing agencies, and online recruiting companies in an effort to fill vacant positions
  • Develops and creates presentations and/or training materials for human resources topics. Makes recommendations for topics to enhance the effectiveness of the Company
  • Evaluates and recommends actions to remain in compliance with current Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines
  • Provides expertise and facilitates various human resources trainings at District and Region Meetings
  • Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management
